Draft — pending legal review
This page is a working draft prepared to expand CSL Brands' data-protection and contractual documentation ahead of its international expansion. It has not yet been reviewed or approved by qualified legal counsel and must not be relied upon as CSL Brands' final, binding policy until it has been validated by counsel and every bracketed placeholder below has been completed.
1. Introduction
This Cookies Policy explains how CSL SARL ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit our website and use our Services.
It explains what these technologies are, which categories we use, why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by us are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than us are called "third-party cookies"; third-party cookies let a third party provide features through our site, such as analytics or advertising.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
We organise the cookies and similar technologies we use into the following categories:
Strictly necessary cookies
Consent not requiredThese cookies are essential for the website to function — for example, to remember your language preference or to keep the site secure. They cannot be switched off, and do not require your consent because they are strictly necessary to provide the Services you request.
Analytics cookies
Consent required by lawWe use Google Analytics (cookies such as _ga and _gid) to understand how visitors use our site, measure traffic, and improve our content. These cookies are currently set automatically when you load a page of our site — see Section 4 for the consent gap we are working to address.
Marketing and advertising cookies
Consent required by lawWe use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, paired with server-side Conversions API calls, and cookies such as _fbp and _fbc, to measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and to build advertising audiences. The Meta Pixel is a browser cookie; the Conversions API is a separate, server-side channel that forwards the same events directly from our servers to Meta and does not itself set a cookie in your browser. These cookies are currently set automatically when you load a page of our site — see Section 4 for the consent gap we are working to address.
Other scripts found in our code (not yet confirmed)
Not yet confirmedOur own review of the site's code found two further third-party scripts running on the site that are not part of the tracking described above: a PostHog product-analytics script, and a Trustpilot review-invitation widget. CSL Brands has not yet confirmed what data these collect, for what purpose, or under what legal basis. [TO BE COMPLETED: confirm the purpose and legal basis for PostHog and Trustpilot, or remove them from the site, and update this Policy accordingly]
4. Consent for Non-Essential Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies used for analytics and marketing — Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel — are currently set automatically when you visit our site, using your browser's default settings. CSL Brands does not currently operate a cookie-consent banner or any third-party consent-management platform (such as Cookiebot, OneTrust, or Axeptio) to ask for your permission before these cookies are set. Where applicable law (for example the EU/UK ePrivacy rules and the GDPR) requires prior consent for non-essential cookies, our current practice does not yet meet that requirement, and we are working to bring it into line.
[TO BE COMPLETED: decide on and implement a consent mechanism (e.g. a cookie banner) for analytics and marketing cookies, consistent with applicable law, and link to it here]
5. How to Withdraw Consent or Manage Cookies
Because we do not yet operate a consent banner, the most effective ways to control or remove these cookies today are:
- Your browser settings — most browsers let you refuse, delete, or be notified about cookies; consult your browser's help menu for instructions, as these vary from browser to browser.
- The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available from Google, to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics on any website.
- Meta's Ad Preferences settings, to control how Meta uses your data for advertising, including data received through the Meta Pixel.
[TO BE COMPLETED: link to the cookie-preference tool once it is implemented]
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use, or in applicable law. Any changes take effect when we post the revised Policy on this page and update the "last updated" date above.
